Clearly Persuaded finished 4th in a first level allowance race for Texas Bred fillies and mares at Sam Houston Race Park. She raced much closer to the pace than in her maiden win but was unable to keep up with the leader. This was her first attempt against winners. She earned $900 for her finish. |

Leestown Legacy won the 4th race at the Fair Grounds today under apprentice jockey Anna Roberts. Leestown Legacy broke well and settled in fourth postion through the first half mile and was only 2 1/2 length off the leader and even money favorite High Toned. He was travelling comfortably at the rail but had to check when he got in tight on the heels of the leader. Jockey Anna Roberts stayed calm and got the five year old son of Leestown back into a smooth stride down the back stretch. Through the far turn, he kept his position and stayed within 3 lengths of the leaders. He eased out of the final turn and made his bid for the leaders. He took over the third position and was gaining on the front two. He took over second position at the top of the stretch and set his sights on the leader, Sam He Be. Under a vigorous, yet controlled hand ride, he caught and pulled away from the field to win by 4 1/2 lengths while going away.
It was Leestown Legacy's fifth lifetime win and first win for Yarnot Stables. He earned $12,000 for the win and paid $15.40. Once again, another great training job by Dallas and Donna Keen and a terrific ride by apprentice jockey Anna Roberts. Congratulations to Leestown Legacy and his connections.
