Clearly Persuaded broke her maiden in only her 3rd career start at Sam Houston Race Park on Thursday January 21, 2010. Ridden perfectly by jockey Chris Landeros, the four-year old Texas-Bred filly broke nearly last in the field of 11 Texas-Bred Maiden Special Weights going 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt track. She trailed by more than ten lengths while heading into the 3/8 pole and that is where she began to make her move. While racing between 4 and 6 wide, she quickly starting passing rivals. While exiting the final turn, she was so wide and far enough behind the leaders that she is not visible on the replay. She was in full stride coming into the stretch and travelling much faster than the rest of field and quickly gaining on the leaders. As the TVG announcer stated, she “turned on the rocket boosters” and made up 5 lengths and won the race by 2 more lengths while going away. It truly was an impressive win.
Clearly Persuaded came out of the race in good condition and will continue to train and race at Sam Houston under the care of trainer Dallas Keen. Look for her to continue to improve as a racehorse and should make her first start against winners in February.
Congratulations to Clearly Persuaded and all of her owners.
